A Compact Sanctuary: A Single-Person Haven in Coastal Çanakkale

A design proposal for a small-scale dwelling tailored for a single occupant, situated near the coast in a village in Çanakkale. Despite its minimal footprint, the home is thoughtfully crafted to balance privacy and community interaction, reflecting the essence of rural neighborly connections.

To respect the proximity of neighboring homes and foster a harmonious relationship, the design incorporates strategically placed enclosed surfaces, offering privacy while maintaining an inviting presence within the village fabric. These closed facades are balanced by carefully positioned openings that frame select views and allow natural light to filter through, creating an intimate and tranquil interior atmosphere.

The design embraces simplicity and functionality, with a focus on maximizing utility within the limited space. Natural materials and a muted palette blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment, ensuring the structure feels rooted in its coastal setting. This proposal exemplifies Phrats’ dedication to creating meaningful, context-sensitive spaces, no matter the scale.
